Manhattan Squash Junior Open 2021 Tournament Recap

We are so happy that tournaments are up and running again. It is great to see our members out competing and putting everything that they worked on over the pandemic to use on court.

The first weekend of May, Manhattan Squash put on a Junior Skill Level tournament. We had four members competing in it - Rashmi Narayanan, Tommy Abou Taleb, Elise Carpenter and Nora Afzali. They all played great and really showed grit and determination during every match. Congratulations.

Rashmi competed in Division 4 and come in 3rd after losing a tough battle in the semi-finals. Despite the loss, Rashmi battled back hard in the 3rd/4th playoff to secure third place.

Tommy competed in Division 6 and won his first tournament! Congratulations Tommy! After a pretty simple first round, Tommy had to play simple error-free squash to get through his semi-final and final.

Elise and Nora each played their first tournament ever! That is a huge achievement in and of itself so congratulations! Elise managed to string together two wins for 2nd place including a four game win against Nora. Nora played great and came in 3rd.

Congratulations to all who participated in this event!
